Happy Friday! It’s been a hectic week here as we’ve been trying to sort ourselves out between family visiting us and then us going away! My posts next week are mostly drafted and scheduled, so if I don’t get to comments right away, it’s because I’m in the wilds of Wales!

Our final topic for April is all about community & book tours.

Do you participate in blog tours? What do you like or dislike about them?

I have only ever participated in one blog tour, but I do Instagram tours more often. The main reason I enjoy them is because I like getting an author’s new book out there. I am lucky to have great followers over on IG who interact with my posts, so I know that they will see the review and hopefully check out the book further. It’s also fun to ‘meet’ other reviewers who share the same reading tastes!
Personally, there isn’t anything I dislike about tours, but then I only join them occasionally so as not to put too much pressure on myself.

Do you trust reviews that are written for blog tours?

I do because I choose to believe that people are inherently honest. I am sure there are those out there who give falsely positive reviews, but I take what people say at face value, so if someone says they enjoyed a book, I usually believe them!

I also tend to follow people who I know have similar tastes to myself, and over time you do get to know what they like and their own tastes from reading non-tour reviews, so again, I tend to trust them!

When you participate in blog tours, do you connect with other bloggers involved? Do you think blog tours build community?

I definitely do over on Instagram. Shamefully, I didn’t with the one blog tour here (life got hectic), but I do think they help to foster community. Not everyone is going to become your best bookish friend, but I do know that I have met some fab people on here whose blogs I enjoy reading!
