Just Finished…
Last week I finished Beauty of the Beasts by Jo Wimpenny.
This is a non-fiction that looks at creatures traditionally feared or hated, and reframes them and encourages us to see them in different lights. I thought it was brilliant, and even though I didn’t hate any of the animals the author spoke about, I still learned a lot.
Currently…
I’m currently reading 3 books. I won’t talk about Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer again, but it’s still here.
I have started an eARC, Her Roots Reclaimed by Danielle Lauren, a fantasy split between the past (1500’s-1700’s) and the present day, though following the same character. I’m not too far in yet, but I already knew I loved Dani’s writing, so I am sure I’ll have a great time with it.
I’ve also finally started Ocean by David Attenborough and Colin Butfield. This was June’s book pick for ReWild Your Shelf, and I never got around to it, so I’m excited to be reading it now.
Up Next…
Up next I want to start working through the Wainwright Prize longlists with some books I own. I plant to pick up Wilderlands by Eloise Kane first. If I do any fiction, I have Break Room by Mi-ye Lee, and The Once and Future Witches by Alix E. Harrow on my list.
