,

Happy Wednesday! Posting this late today as I spent the first part of the week knee deep in assignments!

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?
Just Finished…

I have finished two books since last week. The first was First Mage on the Moon by Cameron Johnston, which was a really fun fantasy that still touched on a lot of real-world issues. It was super cool to read it alongside the Artemis II mission as, if you haven’t guessed, the characters build a spaceship!

The second book was Sabriel by Garth Nix. I’d been meaning to read this for ages, and it was voted on by r/Fantasy for this month’s book club, which I am running. I really enjoyed this one. I’ve always loved classic fantasy, and the world and magic in this one were very interesting. I’m definitely feeling like continuing the series.

Currently…

I’m currently reading 3 books.

I’ve almost finished An Unnatural History of Britain by Kevin Parr. It’s so interesting, and I am really enjoying the ‘species hunting’ personal story method of writing.

I am once again reading Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. This is the 7th time I’ve read it and it never lets me down! A few people wanted to buddy read this one, and it’s been lovely discussing with them as we go.

Finally, I have just started Endling by Maria Reva. This is next up in my reading for The Climate Fiction Prize, and I am really looking forward to it, since is again sounds like something I wouldn’t usually pick up.

Up Next…

My next non-fiction will be Beauty of the Beasts by Jo Wimpenny, hopefully this weekend! Fiction-wise it will be another Climate Fiction Prize read, possibly Albion by Anna Hope.

YOU TELL ME: What are you currently reading?

  1. I’m currently reading Grumpy Alien Boss by Cara Bristol

In the last week I read 🥁

1 Wake-up Calls by Mariah Stewart
2 Alien Tower by Honey Phillips
3 A Cruise to die for by Heather Graham
It’s been 10 years since I read a Heather Graham book and it will probably be another 10 years, assuming I live that long. The premise was good and I thought I’d give it a go, but it was very stilted, too many exclamation marks, and lots of typos. And a very mundane ending. I expected a more nuanced one.

    Next up, not sure
