r/Fantasy Book Bingo 2025 Wrapped & 2026 Plan

,

Yay, I am actually writing about Bingo at a reasonable time this year! As of April 1st, my favourite reading challenge has officially restarted, so I thought I would share about it. If you aren’t aware, I am a mod over on the r/Fantasy sub, and had a small hand in creating this years card, so definitely come and say hi and consider joining us!

Wait, what is Book Bingo?

In very simple terms, it’s a list of 25 prompts that you have one year to complete. Each prompt has a regular mode and a hard mode, so you can choose your level of challenge. It runs from April to April, so you have plenty of time to get stuck in!

The books you read must be speculative fiction (unless otherwise stated), and all the books must be new-to-you (one reread allowed) with no repeated authors. We are all about discovering new authors and expanding your horizons on the mod team!

Bingo 2026 plans

This year I’ve actually decided NOT to plan my card out like I usually do, and see how much I can fill just by reading whatever I fancy. I do expect to have some gaps because of that, probably at least Middle Grade, Game Changer and First Contact, since they aren’t things I usually gravitate towards in books.

I’d loooove for any of you to come and join us for Bingo. It’s so much fun, and we put a ton of work into it each year. Please please ask me any questions here if you have them!

You Tell me: Will you be joining Book Bingo this year?

  1. I think the first book I read this April will count for the bingo, so that’s a lot of fun. I think it will probably be able to slot into many different squares, so I’ll probably wait until I finish it and then find the trickiest square to fill that it fits and use it for that… I suppose I can move things around later in the year if needed, but I also have a physical tracker, so the less I need to do that the better!

    1. Ah it’s always so satisfying when you can check one off right away!
I highly recommend the Google Sheets tracker by Shift_Shaper (it’s in the Official post on the sub), even alongside a physical tracker. You can mark every square a book will fit on it, which is really handy for the end of year bingo shuffle!

  2. I’m in again this year, and have been figuring out my plan! A few more squares this time around where I haven’t come up with an immediately obvious fill (and was mildly miffed that I had in fact recently read something that would fill them!) but I’m not too worried…

    1. Yay, welcome back to Bingo! It’s always the way that you finish the perfect book before the squares come out – even us mods manage to do it, and we know them in advance obviously!
