December Wrap Up

,

Still wrapping my head around the fact that 2025 is over…
I had a great December, which in turn meant a great end to the year!

In December I read 3 books. This is apparently my new monthly average! You’ll see from my Storygraph summary that I had a very up and down month for reading. I read a ton over the initial part of my surgery recovery, and then the latter half of the month was spent reading one book while doing all the things with my family and friends.

I read two fantasy romances which I adored, and then I read the finale to one of my new favourite series. All in all, a fab selection of books.

  • The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy by Megan Bannen. A very whimsical, but often serious fantasy romance following an undertaker and a marshal who delivers the dead to her. This was an enemies to lovers romance with a realistic arc and I had a lovely times reading.
  • A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping by Sangu Mandanna. I adored Mandanna’s first book, and her second did not disappoint either! A cosy romance centred around Sera and her inn of quirky guests, it was hard not to love each and every one of the characters!
  • The Enduring Universe by Kritika H. Rao. An epic conclusion to a new favourite trilogy. I won’t say much because of spoilers, but this was truly a rollercoaster ride. My heart was racing throughout and the ending was absolute perfection.

Three books this month!
The lovely folks at @Profile sent me an ARC of Ancient by Luke Barley.
I also received a secret ARC that I have just started and I’m sooo excited about!

Lastly, my friends and I do Jólabókaflóð, and I received The Edge of Solitude this year.

Yeah they went out the window this month… Well, mostly. I actually read one book towards the r/Fantasy Book Bingo, which is great. I still have many more to check off, but I have a plan that involves throwing away the last plan. I’ll explain more in my upcoming 2026 reading plans post!

It’s been a quiet month here, as I unintentionally took some time away from the internet, I did 3/4 LTB posts and a handful of other bits, but no reviews.

December was a month filled with family and friends, just as it should be!
University wrapped up on the 20th, and a couple of days later, a friend came to stay for the Christmas period. It was honestly a lovely way to end 2025!

    1. I’m really excited about Ancient. I’ve actually chosen it as my first non-fiction of 2026 since it’s the thing I hope to do when I graduate!
