WWW Wednesday: 18/02/26

,

Happy Wednesday! I’ve fallen into a routine of doing these posts every fortnight or so. At least for the moment my reading speed is slower, so occasionally I don’t always finish a book in between weeks!

  1. What did you read last?
  2. What are you currently reading?
  3. What will you read next?
Just Finished…

Since last WWW Wednesday I finished two books.

Way of the Walker by Salinee Goldenberg, the sequel to The Last Phi Hunter. Drawing on Thai mythology it follows Ree, a born Hunter who starts to question what they stand for and sets out from the Guild in search of a new purpose. I love the setting of these books a lot.

When the Forest Breathes by Susan Simard. Simard’s book, Finding the Mother Tree, is one of my favourites, so I was excited to have an earc of her latest. It’s just as wonderful – I have so many highlights saved in my Kindle!

Currently…

I’m currently reading 3 books, which is unusual for me! They are all quite different though, and two I am almost done with.

The Gods Must Burn by T.R. Moore (ARC) is a fantasy book that follows Bass, a demoted soldier who unwittingly becomes a God tasked with saving the very forest his army is set to destroy. I’m almost done with this one and it’s been a great read.

Sourdough by Angela Slatter is a collection of fantasy horror stories. I am not a horror reader, but these are just about the right level of creepy for me. They’re like The Brother’s Grimm folktales level of scary, and I am enjoying them.

Lastly, I am about 50% through the audiobook of The Integral Trees by Larry Niven. This is a wacky 80’s scifi about a colony of people who live in a giant tree. It’s not my usual read, but it’s for a square on the r/Fantasy bingo and was recommended to me by a friend.

Up Next…

My next fiction read will be The Memory Bookshop by Song Yu-Jeong. As for non-fiction, I actually don’t know what I’ll pick up yet, I have so many I want to read!

YOU TELL ME: What are you currently reading?
