WWW Wednesday: 18/6/25

,

Hello, happy Wednesday! It’s been super hot this week, I accidentally sunburned the back of my neck at work on Monday – I’ve never sunburned before, oops. I’m off to London at the end of the week to visit my sister, so I’m looking forward to that!

WWW Wednesday is a weekly recap meme hosted by Sam over at Taking on a World of Words, where we share what we’re reading and what’s up next on the tbr.

My Pride reading has been a little derailed, but only for this current reading selection! I got approved for an e-arc of Green Rider 8 by Kristen Britain (that noise? Just me screaming…). I started a series reread last year, and I was compelled to continue it, so I picked up Mirror Sight, which is book 5. Love it as always.

I’ve also just started Nature Needs You by Hannah Bourne-Taylor, which was sent to me by the publisher. I am only a few pages in so far, but it is all about the author’s fight to save the swift, which is a summer visiting bird here in the UK, and their numbers have declined so much (yes, it’s our fault) that they are now on the red list.

I read a few books last week, the first being They Bloom at Night by Trang Thanh Tran. This was a creepy ya fantasy horror. Ya horror is about the level I can work with as a massive wimp haha, and this one was great. I read this for my Pride bingo, and I’ll have a review soon.

Next was Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab. What a book. I don’t usually go for vampires, but this was excellent. I imagine it had all to do with Schwab’s amazing writing and the female-centred story she told. It was very female ragey and I loved it. I’ll have a review up asap!

A Thousand Blues by Cheon Seon-ran was a really touching story about a robot, a horse and a girl. I love Asian fiction for the poignant stories and touching messages they contain, and this one was no different. All about slowing down and finding joy in life, I read this one slowly and will think about it for a while.

The last book I read last week was Kiss Me, Maybe by Gabriella Gamez. Another one for my Pride bingo, this is a contemporary romance. I really liked the representation in this one, and the MC’s journey to live as her true self, but the plot wasn’t as captivating as I’d hoped.

I’ll get back on my Pride list, by picking up The Oleander Sword by Tasha Suri. I loved The Jasmine Throne and I’m excited to return to that world.
