I’m back from Wales, and catching up! I think I’ve gotten to all the comments (apologies if I’ve missed some things), and I’ll be reading through some of the posts I’ve missed too.
April was definitely a slower reading month compared to the last two, but I had some great books that I really enjoyed and am overall really happy with what I read.
Reading Wrap
I read 6 books in April, finishing up my reading of The Climate Fiction Prize shortlist, a couple of ARCs, and then mood picking the rest of them. I also read my first book towards the 2025 edition of r/Fantasy Book Bingo too.

- The Morningside by Téa Obreht was the first book I finished for the month, and my final Climate Fiction Prize read. It was an interesting one and I have a full review here.
- The Cat Who Saved the Library by Souske Natsukawa was next, a sweet sequel to The Cat Who Saved Books. Tiger the Tabby won me over yet again. (Full review here.)
- Down in the Sea of Angels by Khan Wong was part of an Instagram tour. This was a great read, with some interesting magic and covered some really important themes. (Full review here.)
- Counterattacks at Thirty by Won-pyung Sohn. This was interesting and I can definitely see a lot of people relating to it (characters in their 30’s feeling lost), but didn’t quite hit the mark for me.
- The Prince Without Sorrow by Mathree Wijesekara. A promising debut with some interesting worldbuilding, though I wanted a little more from it. (Full review here.)
- Her Majesty’s Royal Coven by Juno Dawson. Book 1 of 2025 bingo and I loved it! Modern witches, female friendships and fighting to be who you are. Review coming soon.
Life Wrap

All the photos are from my trip to Wales. Such a gorgeous place! We stayed in the Brecon Beacons National Park and the landscape is something else. Of course, Hay-on-Wye was an essential visit, otherwise known as the ‘town of books’ it has over 20 bookstores! I was very good and only picked up 3 books, all of which have been on my tbr for a while now. (Emily Wilde 3, Nature’s Ghosts, The Mysterious Affair at Styles.) The weather was glorious so we spent basically the whole week outside.

Other good things from April were a visit from my sister and her partner, visiting the county flower show and lots more garden time. I also have to share this photo of one of my cats. I am obsessed and wish to always be this relaxed!
