Happy Saturday! I haven’t had a chance to put together any reviews this week with my sister visiting, so I thought it was time to try out a tag! Lynn from @Lynn’s Perspective did this one and I thought it was a fun, so here we go!
What was your first read of the year?
Calypso by Oliver K. Langmead.
This was a great start to the year, such a cool book both in style and subject. I wrote a full review here.
What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Counterattacks at Thirty by Won pyung-Sohn, translated by Sean Lin Halbert. I am really enjoying translated fiction at the moment, and this one has characters my own age, going through very relatable things. It’s quirky and I’m having a good time.
A book you are dying to read
I am desperate to pick up The Prince Without Sorrow by Maithree Wijesekara. I’ve had it sitting on my e-reader as an arc and just never got to it, and a friend told me it’s big on environmental themes, so I must read it soon!
An author you have not read yet but want to?
Robin Hobb! I have heard so many amazing things about her work, but I’ve just not wanted to dive into such a huge world while I have so many series ongoing. Hopefully, this year I can get to at least the first book!
A series you want to start?
Well, Robin Hobb’s works aside, I am excited to jump into Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn by Tad Williams this year. I have book 1 on my bingo card for 2025, so it will be done! I’ve been itching for a good classic fantasy, and I know this will hit the spot.
A series you want to finish?
I have a lot of ongoing series at the moment… about 30, though some I am up-to-date with what’s published. I think the top 3 I want to catch up with/finish are:
- Fallen Gods by Hannah Kaner
- The Burning Kingdoms by Tasha Suri
- Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman
